Volvo Ditches Diesel Vehicles For Good

Upcoming Volvo Vehicles will no longer to be offered with diesel

As we all know there is still an on-going debate on whether or not car manufacturers should continue offering a diesel in their passenger cars. Following this, Volvo Cars made the announcement that they are ditching Diesel power for good.

“Our future is electric and we will no longer develop a new generation of diesel engines. We will phase out cars with only an internal combustion engine, with petrol hybrid versions as a transitional option as we move towards full electrification. The new S60 represents the next step in that commitment,” said Samuelsson.

Volvo Cars CEO Hakan Samuelsson has confirmed that the Swedish marque will no longer be developing a new range of Diesel engines. Instead of diesel, Volvo Cars will be offering Hybrid cars followed by full battery power within the next couple of years.

Following this change, Volvo will launch the third-generation S60 which will be available with a range of four-cylinder Drive-E gas engines, accompanied by two plug-in hybrid versions.
